Baking With Spirit: The December Challenge

I've been informed that there'll be an advent calendar waiting for me when I return home in a couple of weeks, Paperchase have started selling their amazing decorations and festive products, and I even experienced a happy moment today in Morrisons (which is rare in that disorganised zoo of a store) when they played 'I'm Dreaming Of A White Christmas' - it must be coming up to Christmas time. Somehow, the final month of the year is already upon us.

I entertained the idea of setting a certain festive spirit for this month's challenge, but in the end I decided that I would be kind (all in the hopes of getting presents and not coal in my stocking, you understand) and let you bake with any alcoholic beverage/spirit that you fancy, though of course I'd prefer if you used it to make something Christmas themed!

Christmas is probably the most alcohol-filled time of the year: brandy on your Christmas pudding, brandy and rum in your eggnog, brandy in your Christmas cake, brandy in your double cream (brandy apparently has its hey day at Christmas), wine in your mulled wine... you get the idea. If you're making anything remotely Christmassy, and even if you're not, as long as it's got something alcoholic in it (or even the flavour, if you'd rather not use the real deal), I want your recipes.

I look forward to seeing what everyone comes up with!

Here are the rules:

  1. Bake or cook something food and Christmas-related containing whatever type of alcohol you want (or the flavouring).
  2. Write a post about it on your blog and link back to my blog, Cake Of The Week, and mention Baking With Spirit.
  3. Email the link to me at cakeoftheweek@hotmail.co.uk and include your name, your blog and the photo you want me to use in the round-up. If you tweet me @CakeOfTheWeek and/or use #bakingwithspirit I will endeavour to retweet!
  4. The deadline is midnight on the 28th of December.

    1. Ha glad you think so! I know, I walk in there and just want to buy everything. I think I'll wait for the January sales like I did last year and stock up on pretty decorations in time for next Christmas - oh, the life of a student.
