Baking With Spirit: The Alcohol and Fruit Round Up

Well here we are again, at the end of another month. Is it possible that summer is on the way..?

Whether summer is on the way or not, I think these entries will help bring some sunshine into your kitchen. Sunshine, fruit and alcohol can surely only be improved when the latter two are combined in some tasty baked goods.

I know this challenge has always been a bit underground, not drawing as many entries as some more mainstream challenges, and I would like to thank those of you who have made the effort to take part either this month or in the past. It is always very appreciated.

Through a weekend spent watching too much Sunday Brunch and a lot of procrastination, Craig from The Usual Saucepans made this Gin & Orange Upside Down Cake. For a first attempt at an upside down cake, this looks pretty good!

Blueberries and lemon are a match made in heaven, so it's no surprise that these Blueberry & Limoncello Blondies, made by me, were a hit.

I'm so used to seeing American culture on TV that I forget that it doesn't go both ways. Ellen at Bake It With Booze had never had a bakewell tart until she made an adapted version herself. Her Fig & Hazelnut Tart With Frangelico looks so good, especially as the almonds are played down in this recipe.

Next month I'm shaking it up a bit: I'm climbing down from the hosting chair, and Craig from The Usual Saucepans will be taking my place. Head over to his site on Sunday to check out the new challenge, and take some time to investigate his travelling stories and excellent recipes while you're there.

If you like the sound of hosting Baking With Spirit for a month, don't hesitate to get in touch.
